Knowledge management visualizations
One of our partners, Intetek, provides an engine for visualizing the content of the Viapoint organizer database. Among the applications of visualization of personal content are in litigation discovery, knowledge management, criminal analysis, and national defense because the large volume of content can quickly lead to groups of associated people and to narrow down key content that may be pertinent as evidence in a case. After chatting with Simon Lague the VP of Marketing at Intetek this morning I learned that they have an interesting use for Viapoint in training their users because the Viapoint data store creates a rich database of interconnected information on each user's desktop that is relevant to that user. The visualization allows them to see the file structure, email, and provides relationships to organization and contact data. Intetek will be delivering a training session at the KM Europe trade show on November 7th in Amsterdam with an installation of Viapoint on each of 50 knowledge manager desktops as the training database for each user learning to use Intetek to do discovery on their machines. Simon will hopefully be able to provide some great screen captures of the visualizations in the upcoming weeks.
